About the High Performance Committee
The High Performance Committee (HPC) plays a critical role in shaping the strategic direction of Karate BC’s high performance programming. This includes athlete development pathways, elite competition preparation, long-term athlete development alignment, and overall support of performance excellence in the province.
Role Overview
We are seeking dedicated, collaborative, and professionally minded volunteers to join the High Performance Committee. Members will contribute expertise, provide strategic recommendations, and work together to elevate Karate BC’s high performance initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development and oversight of Karate BC’s high performance strategy
- Participate in regular committee meetings and collaborative planning sessions
- Support the creation and evaluation of athlete development pathways
- Provide input on team selection criteria, competition planning, and program policies
- Ensure decisions align with Karate BC values, policies, and long-term development frameworks
- Work professionally and respectfully within a committee environment
Qualifications & Attributes
Ideal candidates will bring some of the following:
- Knowledge of high performance sport systems (karate or other recognized sport)
- Experience in athlete development, coaching, or sport administration
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and impartiality
- Commitment to supporting equitable and inclusive sport environments
- A passion for advancing karate in British Columbia
Time Commitment
- Approximately 2 hours per month
- Attendance at scheduled virtual or in-person meetings
- Additional time for review of materials and committee initiatives as required
