NCCP Instruction Beginner Course
June 21st & 22nd, 2025 – Online
Course Description:
The dojo instructor, both new and experienced, would benefit from this course. It is intended for instructors who teach students who are usually beginners or not very experienced. The focus is on fundamentals and skill development within a rather short time frame of interaction between the instructor and the participants (such as 1 or 2 classes weekly). This course appeals to a broad range of instructors and provides the basic building blocks of instruction as set out by the NCCP Karate Canada program.
Participants who complete this course will be Instructors In-Training and may go on to complete Instructor Certification or transition in the NCCP Competition stream to become a Trained or Certified Coach. Who:
This course is open to individuals who are:
- Green belt and higher
- 14 years of age or older
Course Content:
This course will cover the following topics:
- Teaching and Learning.
- Self-reflection on teaching style and philosophy.
- Assessment tools that will enable participants to keep working on their own to improve their effectiveness as a teacher.
- Make interventions that promote learning.
- Make Ethical Decisions.
- Apply a step-wise process for making decisions based on the NCCP Code of Ethics.
- Analyzing Performance.
- Consider factors that influence technical & tactical performance.
- Observing and defining key performance factors.
- Applying the principles of motion to detect and correct key performance factors.

$175 for KBC members and $315 for non-KBC members

advance of the scheduled start time of this NCCP workshop.
Your Course Conductor for this session will be: Donna Gardecki (coachdev@karatebc.org) Coaches that login after the course content has started or, are experiencing problems with the technology will not be allowed to participate and will be ejected from the course. Coaches that do not complete the full workshop or do not attend, may not receive reimbursement for the course.
For this course, you will require the following documents, which will be forwarded to you: Coach Workbook for Teaching and Learning, Making Ethical Decisions and Analyze Technical Performance.
These will be sent to you at least 3 days prior to the start of the course. The manual is a fillable PDF. You will need to be able to view and save the manuals during this course. Please either print the manuals out or be equipped with a second screen or computer
to view the course materials electronically.

You will likely not be able to save these documents on an iPad or tablet. Online delivery of this NCCP workshop is through Zoom. Zoom link for access to the course will be sent to all registrants after the registration deadline.
Online Zoom Setup Recommendations:
We strongly recommend that you use a headset for this course to prevent audio feedback. A computer with built in microphone and speakers may suffice (however, use of external speakers may cause feedback).
You have access to high speed internet.
You have a dedicated quiet space for the duration of the workshop. If you reside at the same physical location as another coach that will be on this course, please ensure that you are in separate rooms, on separate computers, and please eliminate all background noise.
You have your materials open and accessible for the course.
You must attend the full duration of the workshop to receive credit for the module. Webcams are required for this course and must be turned on. Remain muted during course until it is your time to speak.
