Karate BC is proud to announce that Claudia Laos-Loo has officially qualified to compete at the 2025 WKF World Championships in Cairo, Egypt this November 27 – 30. This is an outstanding achievement and a moment of pride for Karate BC and the entire Canadian karate community.

When asked how she feels about this upcoming competition, Claudia shared:
“I look forward to competing in Cairo because I get the opportunity to proudly represent not only Canada, but also the many people who have supported my journey in various ways. I am so grateful to have never achieved anything alone, and I would like to thank you all for your kindness, encouragement, and friendship!”
Claudia’s Historic Achievement
- Division: Senior Women’s Individual Kata
- Qualification Pathway: On May 30, 2025, Claudia earned the silver medal in Senior Women’s Kata at the PKF Pan American Championships in Monterrey, Mexico. This result secured her a coveted continental quota spot for the World Championships.
Only 32 athletes worldwide qualify in each kata division, with a maximum of one athlete per country. Claudia is the only Canadian—male or female—to qualify in kata, and one of just two Canadian athletes overall who will represent our nation in Cairo.
Why This Matters
The WKF World Championships are the pinnacle of international karate competition. For Claudia to qualify through her Pan American performance speaks to her exceptional talent, dedication, and perseverance on the international stage. Her success is not just personal—it reflects the growth and excellence of karate in British Columbia and Canada.
Supporting Claudia
Competing at the World Championships comes with significant training and travel expenses. If you would like to support Claudia on her journey to Cairo, you can do so by visiting her GoFundMe page and making a donation. Every pledge helps her represent Canada proudly on the world stage.
