Date of Bulletin: November 6, 2025
Deadline to Apply: Friday, November 14, 2025
Karate BC is now accepting applications for the BC Athlete Assistance Program (BC AAP) — a financial support initiative funded by the Province of British Columbia and administered by the Sport Branch of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, Culture and Sport. This athlete-centred program recognizes high-performance athletes training and competing in recognized national and international competitions. Funding, in the amount of $500 per athlete, is meant to help offset some of the costs related to training and competition.
Eligibility Highlights
- Must be a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant and a resident of British Columbia for at least one year prior to application.
- Must be a member in good standing with Karate BC and Karate Canada.
- Train under a Competition Development NCCP-certified coach (Karate BC’s Provincial Coach meets this standard).
- Must be active in the ‘Train to Compete’ or ‘Train to Win’ stages of the Long-Term Athlete Development Model.
- Provide a copy of the current training and competition plan listing activities, events, and intended use of funds.
Selection Considerations
- Funding will be based on the previous year’s competition season (June 2 2024 – June 1 2025).
- Athletes will be ranked based on national and international results, including National Team qualification, World Championships, Pan American Championships, Premier League, North American Cup, Paris Open, National Championships, and US Open results.
- Due to limited funding, meeting eligibility criteria does not guarantee BC AAP support.
Application Details
- Submit the completed application form and required documents no later than Friday, November 14, 2025; click HERE
- email all materials to hpc@karatebc.org
- Applications received after the deadline will not be considered.
