Karate BC Provincial Championships – A Longstanding Tradition with a Strategic New Twist
This world-class venue has long been a favourite for athletes and clubs across the province, and we’re proud to return to a facility that reflects the high standards and professionalism of our sport. The Oval has consistently supported Karate BC — especially in a time when securing quality venues has become increasingly challenging — and we are grateful for this continued partnership.
Why the change?
The September date is being piloted as part of a broader review of the BC Team’s training and selection process, developed in consultation with our High Performance team to ensure alignment with the new national structure and to create early opportunities for athletes to bring out their best.
What this means for the karate community:

An adjusted date that reflects the realities of venue availability and the need to coordinate with other Karate BC and club-hosted events

A key competition early in the season, giving both elite and non-elite athletes the chance to test their skills after the summer break

Integration of Provincials into the BC Team’s official training and selection pathway, supported by input from our High Performance team

A unique opportunity to bring our community together earlier in the year— building momentum, camaraderie, and a shared sense of purpose among clubs, athletes, and coaches
We’re confident that this revised approach will set the tone for a successful season and strengthen Karate BC’s ability to support athletes at every stage of development. We’ll continue to monitor and refine this model to ensure it meets the evolving needs of our members.
Registration details, division information, and all other key updates will be shared in a timely manner. We will continue to communicate important information as it becomes available to ensure athletes, coaches, and clubs are well prepared for the event.
