| BC TEAM PREPARES FOR NATIONALS |
In preparation for the National Black Belt Championships in Toronto, June 6
- 9, Karate BC invited
Tokey Hill, former WUKO World Champion and US National Coach, to their training session on January 4th through the 6th 2002.

"Tokey Hill gave an inspiring, informative workshop for athletes, coaches and
referees.
Tokey is definitely a leading edge coach with motivational capability
and knowledge to show all levels of athletes that it's not just about kicking, punching and technical ability
that counts in the ring."
"His major message this year was on preparation, strength conditioning and personal commitment.
Tokey also focused on the importance of flexibility and being a strategic fighter. Everybody was truly inspired by
his message, passion and dedication to the sport of karate and the development of elite levels of athletic performance
and success in North America."
Coach Bagley feel confident that the team will be prepared and
predicts BC will bring home the grand championship this year.
2001 Junior Female Grand Champion, Hidemi Uchiage said of the
training: "This training session helped me realize the many aspects there are to training and I learned things that I can think about when I train to improve myself"

One brief glance at the exterior of the Kelowna Traditional Martial Arts Center is all it takes to realize that this new building is anything but typical.
The 17,000 square- foot, three-storey, oriental-style structure on Ambrosi Road seems to command the attention of all passers-by.
